Child & Parent Mentorship

Guiding Families Toward Education, Confidence, And Hope

In many of the villages we serve, children with disabilities are left behind due to stigma, fear, and lack of support. After Covid, the sense of disconnection deepened. To break this cycle, International SEVA launched one-on-one mentorship for both students and parents – Helping them rebuild trust in education and restore hope in their child’s future.

OUR GOAL

To provide long-term emotional and motivational support that keeps children attending school and thriving – One SEVA At A Time.

What We've Donated - And Why

  • Direct mentorship for children with learning delays – To boost self-esteem, focus, and classroom participation.
  • Parent guidance and emotional support – To help families overcome shame, fear, and uncertainty about sending their child to school.
  • Regular check-ins and motivation tools – To celebrate attendance milestones and keep families engaged

Why Mentorship Matters

Mentorship is not a handout. It is a human connection. For children who struggle to be understood, and for parents who feel lost, it offers direction, encouragement, and peace of mind. Our mentors make education feel possible again.

You make this possible – One SEVA At A Time.

Mentoring Parents of Autistic and Special Needs Children in Gujarat, India

Uplifting families of children with autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy

Our GOAL

• We hosted a small group mentorship session for 3 hours for low-income parents. The discussion addressed emotional and practical concerns.
o With each child having unique abilities, small groups ensure each parent’s question is addressed.
• Many parents had never received coaching before; they were confused, overwhelmed, and lacked guidance on school options, therapy, or aid.
o Helped them access local nonprofit referrals and government aid.
• Founder made space for every voice – especially for shy parents afraid to speak up.
o Guided each parent on supporting children’s independence and learning.
o They were eager to learn how parents in USA cope with their special children so many true experiences are regularly shared.

Why This Matters

Most families we serve have no internet access or awareness of local resources. That’s why we hold small group and one on one sessions to address each parent’s concerns personally. Through these gatherings, we:
• Offer advocacy and compassionate guidance, and access to life-changing support systems.
• Connect families to trusted nonprofits and government services.
• Help fill out essential forms when access or literacy is a barrier.
• Provide clarity, confidence, empathy, and encouragement – every step of the way.

Together, we help families feel seen, supported, and empowered. Upon return to US, these sessions continue via Zoom or WhatsApp calls.

Mentoring An Autistic Child For Independence – Gujarat, India (FEB 2024)

A 7-day transformation from tears to trust

Our GOAL

• With utmost patience and care, guided a shy, autistic child, daily, one-on-one.
o He clung to his parents, would cry nonstop unless both parents remained at school.
• Provided emotional relief to exhausted parents who had no other options.
o Slowly build the child’s independence and growth with small incentives.
o Parents had no funds to seek professional help and were unable to attend work during daytime. Father worked late nights.
• Through daily encouragement, positive reinforcement, and emotional coaching, this child began attending class independently.
• On Day 7, the child was smiling, participating, communicating freely, and thriving.
o With abundance joy, parents shared their new lessons learned with a neighbor who had a special child too.
• Unlocking potential with compassion – One SEVA At A Time.

Why This Matters

Many families can’t afford professional help. Simple acts of encouragement and structure can unlock a child’s world. This mentorship gave the family new hope and the child a new beginning.
